CLOUD SHEPHERD: an evening of audio/visual revelation

Cloud Shepherd flyer

The Emerald Tablet is proud to present an evening of live improvisational music with CLOUD SHEPHERD. Featuring ambient video projections by Sheila Bosco, and an opening performance by solo guitarist Aaron Sheppard.

CLOUD SHEPHERD is a San Francisco Bay Area quartet formed to explore improvised music, but in a more “ambient” setting, reflecting their combined interests in spontaneous composition, drone-based music, and certain 20th Century classical and jazz composers. Their moniker was chosen in order to reflect their commitment to the pasturing of ever-changing, nonlinear cumulations of sound.

During the recent Carnivàle Pataphysique held at City Lights Books last November, Cloud Shepherd turned out a fantastic, almost invocational performance which transformed the Poetry Room at City Lights into a temple of primal sound. If you missed that amazing occasion, you really don’t want to miss this evening—Cloud Shepherd’s return to North Beach—during which The Emerald Tablet will become an audio/visual immersive environment. Sheila Bosco will project her floating video worlds upon cloud formations of fluttering fabric, creating the ideal perceptual cocoon to experience the power and magic of a Cloud Shepherd performance.

Opening the evening: Aaron Sheppard, a solo-instrumental composer of marvelous talent. Aaron will set the mood with his exquisitely sensitive guitar compositions, preparing us for liftoff. Let the fingerstyle lead you to the edge of trance, until the lights go down and a flock of kaleidoscopic clouds are herded forth to saturate your senses and reveal their secrets to your inner vision.

This is also the closing party for our February show, SHADOW / SHIMMER, featuring the evocative artwork of Trius Fernsler and Tibor Simon-Mazula.
