The Emerald Tablet is pleased to announce ‘Dreaming’, a show of paintings featuring the work of Grace Kelly Rivera. With a deft touch, Kelly defines light and space with a grace that is true to her name. Her focus has centered on the delicate, ephemeral world of the feminine spirit, but delving into the world of music and dance, her imagery has now expanded to include the emotions of the performing artist onstage. Dancers swirl, arms flourishing castanets, jazz singers open their voices to the sky, the trumpet player stands alone under a moon, a trio of musicians form one single harlequin-esque body.

Grace Kelly Rivera was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, and at eighteen moved to New York City to pursue artistic happiness. While working at the Cloisters Museum, Kelly gained an appreciation for the illuminated manuscript and iconographic art, stirring an interest in art’s relationship to the spiritual.
She studied at the National Academy of Art in New York and at the Art Student’s League. For the past eight years Kelly has studied Flamenco with numerous dancers from the Bay area and Spain. She has had the great privilege of performing with the troupe Flamenco del Oro,(with whom she will be performing at the Emerald Tablet March 1st) and she teaches beginning and intermediate level Flamenco Dance classes in Grass Valley, CA. She is presently working on a large scale commissioned sanctuary piece for the Tayu Meditation Center, in Sonoma, CA. Her work may be viewed on her website: http://www.anessentialartist.com and http://www.bluecanvas.com/gracekellyrivera/

Please join us for a reception for the artist on March 1st 2013, from 6 – 8pm. The exhibition will remain on display Friday, Saturdays and Sundays through March 24th, 2013. Refreshments will be served at the opening. After the opening, Kelly will be performing with Flamenco Del Oro’s Gopal Slavonic and Kina Mendez from 8 – 10pm. Please see this link for more details on that event: http://emtab.org/flamenco/
