Michele WaltherThe Five Seasons Trio plays a unique mix of world music, jazz, and original compositions. Their music is innovative, soulful, energetic, and with spirit. Their repertoire includes works by Dave Douglas, Charlie Mariano, Anouar Brahem, Richard Galliano, Michèle Walther, Dan Cantrell and more.

Accordionist/pianist/saw player Dan Cantrell is an Emmy winning composer known for his innovative and energetic approach to documentary film and television scoring. He can be heard on albums from Tom Waits, Joanna Newsom, the Toids, Beats Antique, as well as numerous self-produced albums. He was recently a featured soloist with the San Francisco Symphony, and has performed with the Oakland Symphony, Mike Marshall, members of the Klezmatics, Brave Old World, and Fishbone. Dan composed music for three seasons of The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack on Cartoon Network and received an Emmy Award for his scoring work on the PBS documentary Home Front.

Violinist Michèle Walther loves to perform jazz, world music, improvised music and tango. In the Bay Area, Michèle performs with Resonance Jazz, Tangonero, Hip Hop Ensemble Mik Nawooj, the George Cole Band, and solo with live looping.

Michèle has performed in venues throughout Europe and North America with Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull, Gloria Estefan, Joe Lovano, John Cage, Oscar Stagnaro (Paquito D’Rivera), Pablo Ablanedo Septet (jazz, latin; label fresh sound/new talent), Vardan Ovsepian Chamber Ensemble (jazz; label fresh sound/new talent), The Boston String Quartet (CD Spectrum), Basel Sinfonietta, Mark Feldman, Steve Gadd, and more.

She is a founding member of the trio LaMuseMent (CD orange heart; label altrisuoni.) Ms. Walther earned her M.M. at the Conservatory of Music in Basel, Switzerland, and later graduated from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, majoring in jazz performance.

Aharon Wheels Bolsta, on tabla and percussion, loves to share what he has learned in his music-seeking travels around the world. He recently returned from a 4-month tour of the US and Europe with the Underscore Orkestra. As a body percussionist and singer he performs and teaches solo and with the Bay Area Sonic Ensemble (B.A.S.E.: Derek Wright, Sam Rogers, Alyssa De Caro) which traveled in 2010 to Sao Paulo, Brazil, for the International Body Music Festival III. He performs and records his mouth harps, flutes, tabla, drums, and middle-eastern percussion with the Fishtank Ensemble, Khi Darag, Saul Kaye, Rumen Shopov, Jef Stott, Dan Cantrell and many others. Aharon studied classical Indian tabla under the guidance of Swapan Chaudhuri and santoor, vocals, and bansuri flute with Ali Akbar Khan at AACM in San Rafael for more than 15 years. He also studied improvisation and new music under Fred Frith at Mills College.
