LITQUAKE: writers who paint, drawers who write

Please join us on Saturday, October 12th at 7:30pm for a special evening of readings by the artists. Curated and hosted by Jody Weiner, this free event will feature:

Award-losing cartoonist Don Asmussen is creator of the long-running political comic strip Bad Reporter in theSan Francisco Chronicle and syndicated by Universal Press Syndicate. Don is right-handed.

Lisa Brown is a best-selling  illustrator, writer, and cartoonist. She lives in San Francisco, California, but can more often be found on twitter and tumblr.

Nancy Calef is an oil and mixed media painter, singer songwriter and author of a new memoir Peoplescapes, My Story From Purging to Painting.

Jack Hirschman is a fellow poet, translator, and painter; he is the former Poet Laureate of San Francisco.

Alan Kaufman‘s books include Jew Boy, a memoir, Matches, a novel, The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry, The Outlaw Bible of American Literature, and his latest memoir Drunken Angel.

Paul Madonna writes and draws “All Over Coffee” in the San Francisco Chronicle and in two book collections by City Lights Press. Paul is comics editor on The and was the first (ever!) art intern at MAD magazine.

Jody Weiner wrote the novel Prisoners of Truth, co-authored Kinship With Animals, and co-edited Resistance: A Radical Social and Political History of the Lower East SideHeck No is his comedy screenplay in development.

Shannon Wheeler is the creator of the comic “Too Much Coffee Man” and contributes original work to The New YorkerThe OnionMake Magazine, and Distro. He currently lives in Portland, Oregon.
