LITQUAKE: writing and fighting: creative couples collaborating

The Emerald Tablet is thrilled to host several Litquake events again this year, including Writing and Fighting: Creative Couples Collaborating on Wednesday, October 15th at 7:00 p.m.. Join us!

Enjoy a truly special evening with three iconic Bay Area couples who cohabitate and create together. America’s foremost political satirist, Will Durst, along with brilliant actor and improv comedienne Debi Durst, join award-winning documentary filmmakers Dan Geller and Dayna Goldfine, and internationally renowned writers, poets and painters Agnetta Falk and Jack Hirschman. Maybe we’ll all discover how they manage to navigate their professional careers and their personal relationships together. Hosted by Jody Weiner and Nancy Calef.

Debi Durst sqDebi Durst is an actress known for The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993),Monkeybone (2001), and The Day I Grew Up (2014), and she currently appears in the Marin Shakespeare Company production of Romeo and Juliet. She and Will have been married since 1981.

Will DurstWill Durst is the sworn enemy to all tyrants, foreign and domestic, he has made three elected presidents laugh out loud and is author of The All-American Sport of Bipartisan Bashing and Where the Rogue Things Go.

agnetta falk photoAgnetta Falk is a poet and artist who has organized and participated in “far too many international poetry festivals and art exhibits for decades.” Her latest book is Heart Muscle. “Aggie” and Jack have been together for almost 20 years.

Jack HirshmanJack Hirschman is the former Poet Laureate of San Francisco, and has written over 100 volumes of poetry and verse, the latest is The Viet Arcanes.

Dayna Goldfine sqDayna Goldfine is an Emmy-award winning director/producer who, with Dan Geller, has jointly created critically acclaimed multi-character documentary narratives for over 25 years.

Dan Geller sqDan Geller is an Emmy-award winning director/producer who, with Dayna Goldfine, has jointly created critically acclaimed multi-character documentary narratives for over 25 years. Their most recent: The Galapagos Affair: Satan Came to Eden was called “the most irresistible film of 2014 so far” by San Francisco Chronicle’s Mick LaSalle.

Nancy Calef sqNancy Calef is an oil and 3-D mixed-media painter, who wrote the illustrated memoir Peoplescapes: My Story From Purging To Painting with Jody’s nudging. She and Jody have been cohabitating and collaborating since two weeks before the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

jody weiner photoJody Weiner wrote the novel Prisoners of Truth, and his new novel Raise Your Other Right Hand is supposed to be finished already.
