NORTH BEACH BACCHANALIA: music & poetry festival

The Emerald Tablet is thrilled to host a FREE, all-day music and poetry festival on Sunday, June 22nd, organized by Name Drop Swamp and featuring the following musicians:

Devotionals (Tyson Vogel of Two Gallants)
Devotionals’ music is based around Tyson’s guitar compositions. Joined by various guests and collaborators, the result is a unique combination of simplicity and raw emotion that will delight new and old fans of Two Gallants, a kind of street music with nods to Rachmaninov and John Fahey. The recording is entirely analog.

New Spell
Dark indie avant-pop with female vocals, this San Francisco trio creates a sound that is melancholy and moving, hopeful and haunting. By infusing their strange but alluring songs with classical, jazz, and electronic influences, they conjure a dynamic style that is simply captivating.

Field Medic (Kevin Sullivan from Rin Tin Tiger)
“I’m a f#$%^&g singer-songwriter.”

Mark David Ashworth & Muralismo
Muralismo is a San Francisco-based electric chamber folk rock group.

The Thoughts (Seattle)
The Thoughts are an orchestral-folk duo comprised of singer/songwriter Ian Williams and multi-instrumentalist/producer Katie Mosehauer.  Their emotionally-driven songs of love and loss are rooted in visceral, dream-like imagery, buoyed and lifted by an array of sonically rich soundscapes, built with strings, harp, acoustic guitar, harmonium, piano, and orchestral percussion.  Williams’ voice croons, pleads, and soars throughout, a melodic and vivid through-line surrounded by Mosehauer’s heartbreakingly beautiful, alternatingly intimate and epic strings, harp, and keys.

Edwin Valero
Venezuelan boxer, who ended his career with a 27-0 record with 27 knockouts.

Avery from Corpus Collosum
Corpus Callosum is a seven-piece original music and performance group. We utilize a variety of traditional and obscure instruments, from accordion and banjo to wine glasses and Stylophones. Our performances feature stiltwalking, unique puppetry, parades, cardboard sets, and more.

Butanna is an all female bay area punk rock outfit who deconstruct eardrums whilst crushing hearts.

Plus many special guests, including poetry by Evan Karp • Charlie Getter • Jonathan Siegel • Shyeanne Powers • J. Brandon Loberg • Paul Corman Roberts • Jared Hannum
