WRITE FROM THE GUT: flash readings

Alexandra Kostoulas

Please join us on Sunday, November 23rd at 4:30pm for a late afternoon of flash readings of original work by students of Alexandra Kostoulas’ Tuesday & Wednesday night classes, which are based on the Jack Grapes Method Writing. Alexandra was a longtime student of Grapes’ and one of the first people to receive his blessing to teach this highly creative technique.

Alexandra’s class was featured in the Bay Guardian as one of six arts classes to “expand your horizons”, and profiled in the SF Chronicle.

Jack GrapesThe craft of method writing works on the fundamental principle that the basic building block of all writing is voice. From a compelling voice comes interesting characters; interesting characters help create a dynamic plot. These elements work together to produce bold storytelling, and this class focuses on helping writers find and develop their own unique voice in poetry, memoir, and fiction. Jack Grapes Method Writing will be offered again in the Fall 2013 term.

This event will feature more than 20 3-minute readings! So come get some adrenaline and a slew of original voices. Watch Jack explain the method below:
